The New Zealand Education System
The New Zealand education system guides students through a seamless journey from early childhood to secondary education.
It begins with Early Childhood Education (ECE) for children aged 0-5, focusing on play-based learning and development. Next is Primary School (Years 1-6, ages 5-10), where students build foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects.
Intermediate School (Years 7-8, ages 11-12) provides a bridge between primary and secondary education, catering to the specific needs of emerging adolescents.
Finally, Secondary School (Years 9-13, ages 13-18) offers a broad curriculum with increasing specialisation, culminating in the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) at Levels 1, 2, and 3.
